F1 in Schools Technology Challenge
This year, a TY team of five students, Sonic Predators F1 are competitng in the F1 in Schools Technology Challenge. This competition is run in partnership with ICS and Discover Science and Engineering. This competition aims to promote science and engineering in secondary schools all across the country. Teams are required to create a balsa wood racing car of scale 1:20 and race the car. Teams must also look after other aspects of a racing team, including running a website (http:/www.sonicpredators.com), using various media to promte the team, gaining sponsorship, merchandising, creating a pit display, team identity etc.
Currently, the school's team, Sonic Predators, is competiting in the regional finals of the challenge in Griffith College Dublin, on the 14 of March. This team aims to be succesful with the hope of quailfing to the nationals with the chance to progress and represent Ireland on an international scale in Abu Dhabi at the end of this year.
