Coláiste Rís School Self Evaluation Plan
In the last year, we have looked at teaching and learning in our school to find out what we are doing well. This is what we discovered:
Based on results from a recent Whole School Evaluation our students are proud to be in Coláiste Rís, feel safe and cared for and feel encouraged to do the best they can. Data from a survey of parents evidenced the fact that they feel welcome in our school, feel that their child is well looked after and treated respectfully.
This is what we did to find out what we were doing well, and what we could do better:
We analysed this raw data from the WSE, surveyed staff and formed student focus groups. All of this pointed to the area of assessment and reporting as an area of need. We formed an SSE committee who in consultation with management and the teaching staff looked at ways to develop a whole school approach to this.
This is what we are now going to work on:
1. Encouraging students and staff to be reflective practitioners.
2. Motivating students to carry out productive and purposeful learning.
3. Promoting a whole-school approach to assessment and reporting.
4. The roll out of a cover sheet for second year exams to engage students in reflective tasks concerning their learning.
This is what you can do to help:
1. Encourage your child to engage in meaningful self-reflection relating to their study habits and practises.
2. Sign the cover sheet in the space provided and bring it to the next Parent-Teacher Meeting if there is anything you would like to discuss.
3. Use the cover sheet to open a conversation about how they learn.
