After the Junior Certificate students have a choice of opting for the traditional Leaving Certificate or Transition Year. Currently the school has two transition year classes and the programme has been very successful in Coláiste Rís. Students choosing to opt for the Leaving Certificate sit down with the guidance counsellor and select the right combination of subjects to fit their own personal needs. We hold evening meetings in the college at which the various options and subjects are presented and explained to parents. Currently Religion, Careers, P.E. and Computers Studies are taken by all students as non-exam subjects.
